  1. File Explorer Crashes Mounting Synology NAS Windows 10 - IconCache Corrupt

I am running Windows 10 and the NAS I am trying to connect to is a Synology Diskstation DS1517+I've been able to connect and add a Quick Access to this NAS drive in the past but recently I started having an issue where my File Explorer crashes whenever I would try and login to the NAS. I can access the NAS through the browser, my Synology Diskstation DSM is up to date and so is my Windows 10. Everything on the NAS side seems to be fine.I found this Microsoft Community posts second comment that did help delete and reset the icon cache files, which would then allow me to mount to the NAS with

File Explorer and NAS keep on crashing

Oh also, basically not only do they keep crashing but also File Explorer (on my windows PC the NAS is connected to and ofc its also connected to the router) is very slow to load any hard drives and goign into a drive's content takes a long long time and then it crashes again - - - Updated - - -
I have the Synology DS118. Not sure how to perform that command on it tbh

  3. Windows 10 File Explorer cannot access Synology NAS

I am using a HP laptop with Windows 10 Home and suddenly over the last several days a Synology NAS cannot be accessed from the laptop.

    More information:

The version of Windows 10 Home - 1803

I have two other PC in the house and both can access the Synology NAS

I also have several Android tablets - they can access the NAS

On the laptop (with the issue) I also have a Synology management software product - It CAN access the NAS and open files

I originally mapped the NAS several months ago on the laptop and the mapped drives worked as expected until yesterday,

Yesterday I started getting messages saying "… the network path was not found." every time I tried to access/map the NAS

After several reboots of the laptop (yesterday) I was finally able to map the NAS, but only by typing in "\\ (NAS Name) \" before I started the mapping process.

This morning the same mapping (that worked yesterday evening) is not working and giving the same error message I saw yesterday morning.

    Just to recap

    Running laptop - windows 10 Home (1803)

Mapped NAS drives worked fine until yesterday

Synology management software on same PC can access the NAS and open files

Several other PCs can open files

I was able to re-establish connections yesterday by specifying the NAS name when I restarted the mapping

Today the mapping does not work (again).

File Explorer Crashes Mounting Synology NAS Windows 10 - IconCache Corrupt

File Transfer Speed from Windows 11 to Synology NAS is VERY SLOW vs. Windows 10

I have a new Windows 11 PC and I'm noticing that the file sharing to my Synology NAS is very slow vs when I transferred files from my older Windows 10 PC.

    File Transfer Speeds:

    • Windows 11 to NAS (DS1520+) = 11.5 MB/s
    • Windows 11 to Windows 10 = 112 MB/s (much faster)
    • File size = 30GB

    Note:

    • Windows PCs and NAS are all Ethernet connected on 1GB home network.
    • Running: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
    • Running: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5

Any suggestions on how to speed this up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
